The Arrowsmith Community Justice Society oversees the operation and
development of both the Restorative Justice Program and the Community
Dialogue Program.
All Board and
Conference Team positions are held by volunteers from our community. The
Program Coordinator is a contract employee.

term at the Annual General Meeting each November. There are 7 director
positions with 3 retiring in odd years and 4 retiring in even years.
There are 2 Honorary director positions which are discretionary. The Honorary director can attend
all meetings and have input but cannot vote.

The Program Coordinator is
responsible to the Board of Directors for the leadership of the program
including supervision of the volunteers, administrative processes, working
with the referral agents, case management as well as monitoring and evaluation of the
program.

volunteers:
Volunteers work
as a team on each case received. As part of the team they will take on
various roles as part of the conference process. These roles include
facilitation of the conference and mentorship of the offenders throughout
the process.
Once the team
members have completed the required program training and internship they
will receive a case from the coordinator. Depending on their role their
tasks will include:
becoming familiar with all
aspects of the case
draft a plan to implement the
conference
Contact the victim, the
offender, their families and support person to explain the program and the
process, listen to and clarify the details of the incident, and collect
potential dates and times they would be available for the conference.
set a conference date to
accommodate all participants.
choose a neutral location
within the community for the conference.
facilitate the conference
prepare the resolution
agreement at the conclusion of the conference.
liaise with the coordinator
and other team members
keep a simple and clear record
of all client contacts during the entire process
complete both a personal and
program evaluation after the conference
participate in regularly
scheduled support/in service meetings
support the offender in
completing their community conference Resolution Agreement
